The aim of the Emergency Unit Kowloon East Volunteer Group is to engage the community with the use of the leisure time of the volunteer officers. The group provides footdrill lessons, team building exercises and lead group discussions at various secondary schools in the Kowloon East Region. Through these activities, the group aims to enhance the confidence, discipline and team spirit of the participating students. Further, through the participation of these voluntary activities, the officers can enhance their own confidence, organization skills and have a better knowledge of the minds of today’s youths. Hence the exercises organised are in fact advantageous to both the officers and the students.

The volunteer group was established in 2007. The group cooperated with a secondary school in Tseng Kwan O and provided footdrill lessons initially. After two years of cooperation, the group has received many favourable comments by the students, teachers, the School Principal and the parents.

In 2009, the group expanded and provided foot-drill exercises, team-building exercises, and experience sharing sessions for 2 more schools in the Wong Tai Sin district and the Sau Mau Ping district.

In mid-2010, the group begun to cooperate with the Education Bureau, and provided the above exercises for 5 secondary schools in total in the Kowloon East Region, and the number of volunteers has grown to about 70.
